About the role
Due to increasing growth and upcoming projects, we are currently taken on expressions for interest to qualified and experienced professionals to join our Blast Crews on a full-time basis. As a member of the Blast Crew, you will play a critical role in executing blasting operations safely and efficiently across mining and quarrying sites. This position is essential to supporting our clients' production schedules whilst maintaining the highest standards of safety and environmental compliance. You will work as part of a skilled team, contributing to the successful planning, preparation and execution of blast events in a dynamic and challenging operational environment.
Key responsibilities
Preparing blast sites and ensuring all equipment is correctly positioned and secured in accordance with operational specifications
Loading explosives into blast holes with precision and attention to safety protocols
Installing and testing electronic and non-electronic detonation systems to ensure reliability and safety
Conducting pre-blast checks and safety briefings with site personnel
Operating blasting equipment and monitoring blast execution from secure control areas
Conducting post-blast inspections to verify blast performance and site integrity
Maintaining accurate blast records, documentation and reports
Adhering strictly to all safety procedures, legislation and company policies
Communicating effectively with site management, safety personnel and team members
Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and safety culture within the team
What we're looking for
Minimum of 2 years' experience working in blast crew operations within the mining or quarrying industry
Current Explosives Competencies Card (or willingness to obtain) and relevant qualifications
Sound understanding of blasting safety regulations, industry standards and best practice
Proven ability to work safely in high-risk environments with a strong commitment to zero-harm culture
Excellent attention to detail and manual dexterity for precision blasting work
Physical fitness and ability to perform physically demanding tasks in outdoor environments
Strong communication and teamwork skills with the ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively
Reliability, punctuality and professional conduct at all times
Valid driver's licence and ability to travel to site locations as required
Preferably current First Aid Certificate and Construction Induction Card (White Card)
