The Communication and Engagement team leads how we communicate to support priorities and maintain public trust, navigating complex issues to help communities understand decisions, with a culture grounded in transparency, collaboration and accountability.

About the role:

  • Lead the development, delivery, and ongoing evaluation of Central Queensland Health's overarching Communication and Engagement Strategy.
  • Provide high-level strategic counsel to the Chief Executive and senior leaders on sensitive, high-risk, and complex communication matters.
  • Establish and embed best-practice governance frameworks, standards, and communication policies across the entire health service.
  • Manage a small, high-performing communication team and oversee the unit's operational budget and resource allocation.
  • Drive proactive media management, crisis communication, and stakeholder engagement initiatives that protect and enhance organisational reputation.

About you:

  • You hold a relevant tertiary qualification and/or demonstrate high-level experience navigating complex healthcare or government environments.
  • You have a proven ability to design, implement, and measure strategic communication frameworks that align with broader corporate objectives.
  • You possess extensive experience providing expert advisor-level guidance to senior executives on high-risk, sensitive reputational issues.
  • You are highly skilled in media relations, issue mitigation, and cultivating strong, inclusive stakeholder relationships.
  • You are an empowering leader with a track record of building team capability, fostering accountability, and driving continuous improvement.

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $187,651 p.a. is comprised of:

  • A salary between $155,432 - $164,467 p.a.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
