About us:

Rockhampton Hospital is the main referral hospital in Central Queensland. The Maternity Service at the Rockhampton Hospital is the main birthing hub for Central Queensland and caters for approximately 1400 births annually. It provides a level 4 maternity service: The Antenatal Clinic offers outpatient antenatal care and education; the Antenatal/Postnatal 15 bed ward offers inpatient care and maternity assessment unit; the 5 bed Birth Suite offers care during birth and high dependency care; and the level 4 Special Care Nursery offers medium to high dependency care to neonates.

About the role:
  • The role of the Registered Midwife - Caseload is to provide primary midwifery care for an all-risk caseload of up to 40 women per year.
  • The role will provide clinical expertise as a caseload Midwife, with support to other midwives within the group practice, ensuring the provision of best practice, collaboration and quality patient care for women and their families.
  • Midwifery care is provided in collaboration with other health care providers, across the continuum of pregnancy, labour, birth and the post-partum period within Maternity Services and in the community.
About you:
  • You must possess registration as a Registered Midwife with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a current annual practising certificate are mandatory for this position.
  • While not mandatory, being able to work to full scope of midwifery practise would be well regarded.
  • Ability to provide culturally appropriate caseload midwifery care to up to 40 women and their families across the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal period.
  • Clinical skills in IV cannulation, Water Immersion in labour and waterbirth, perineal suturing and speculum examination. If not competent in these skills must be willing to undertake the necessary training within six months of commencement.
What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $170,575 p.a. (Caseload Midwife +35%) is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $59.49 - $76.30 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
